Kate and Garner's Wedding, Part 1

In mid-May, Kate and Garner had a beautiful wedding in Brenham, TX.  It was a very special wedding for me to photograph, as Kate's family and my wife's family have known each other for a long time.  Kate and Regan grew up together, and Kate's mom was actually one of my pre-school teachers!  It was a fun weekend, and I enjoyed watching Kate and Garner celebrate their marriage amongst good friends and family.

Here is part one of their wedding, with another post coming soon from the reception.

Anna and Luke's Wedding

I had so much fun photographing Anna and Luke on their wedding day.  I knew Luke from The University of Texas, where we were both Texas Cowboys together.  When he gave me a call last year and told me that he and his fiance, Anna, were interested in my photography, I was really honored and excited.  I've really enjoyed getting to know Anna better.  She and Luke are both a lot of fun to be around, and are wonderful people.

One of the things I really like about my job is that I get to meet family!  I get to sit down with the bride and groom, hear about the wedding and plan all of the photography.  And through it all, and of course on the wedding day, I get to witness all of the family together, interacting on such and important and exciting day.  Often times people wonder about the stress...they want to know if I've seen dramatic things come up because of the stress of the day.  But that's never happened.  It has always been a beautiful thing, a sweet interaction between father and daughter, son and mother, etc.  I think it is very neat that I am able to witness this, to capture it in photographs.  It is extra special when I know the bride and groom well, like I do Anna and Luke.

Anyhow, Anna and Luke had a beautiful wedding.  They married at First United Methodist Church in downtown Austin, then shuttled over to The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum! All I can say is how cool!  The museum looked awesome, the lighting was spectacular, and the band was superb, to say the least.  Anna and Luke got to dine with Bob himself (see photo below, "God Bless Texas.").  And the Texas Cowboys cannon sat peacefully outside (unfortunately we didn't get to hear it sound).

Anna and Luke pulled away in a classic car, with the state capitol behind them.  It was a wonderful night.  Hope you enjoy the photos.

Erin and Daniel's Wedding

At the end of March, Erin and Daniel married at one of my favorite churches in town, St. Paul’s Methodist Church.  After the ceremony, everyone headed over to the Courtyard on St. James Place for a wonderful reception.  The flowers looked gorgeous, the food was delicious, and the cake sat beautifully underneath the glowing chandelier upstairs.  A photo booth by Party Booths was a big hit, and guests were able to put their poses in an album and write a note or two for Erin and Daniel to keep.  I think this is such a wonderful idea for your wedding.  My wife and I did something similar, and the album was waiting for us as soon as we returned from our honeymoon.  We had so much fun those first nights back home, remembering our wedding day, and flipping through pages of our family and friends, and their kind, sometimes funny (and sometimes inappropriate!) words.  Erin and Daniel were all smiles as they departed, standing out the top of their limo, waving good-bye to everyone.

From our first meeting, to photographing their engagement portraits at Herman Park and the Museum area, to their wedding day, Erin and Daniel were so easy to work with!  I truly enjoyed getting to know them, and watching them tie the knot.

Here are some of my favorites from the wedding day!

Kendall and Drew's Wedding

Kendall and Drew’s wedding was such a blast!  They chose to marry at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa outside of Bastrop, on HW 71 to Austin.  What a cool place!  The resort has a great 18 hole golf course, lots of activities to keep everyone busy, and they’ve done such a wonderful job capturing that “Hill Country” feel.

Unfortunately, it rained on Kendall and Drew’s big day, so the ceremony had to be moved indoors.  We had planned on having the ceremony right next to the Colorado River, then walking up to the Hyatt’s outdoor reception area.  However, Kendall and Drew didn’t let the rain get them down, and both the ceremony and reception ended up being perfect!  The band rocked on late into the night, while Kendall and Drew escaped on their speedy golf cart with friends and family tossing rose pedals.

Kendall and Drew were such a pleasure to work with.  Spending time with them on their wedding day was very special for me.  They were so excited and ready for this day to come, and their love and commitment to each other was a blessing to witness.  Thank you, Kendall and Drew, for allowing me to share in y’all’s special day!

Caitlyn and Darren's Wedding

Caitlyn and Darren got married in March at Bailey's American Grille in Seabrook.  The wedding was beautiful and intimate, and I had a wonderful time working with them.  Here are some of my favorites from the day.  Hope y'all enjoy!

A busy weekend in Austin

This past weekend was a blast.  I headed up to Austin for Anna and Luke's wedding, and photographed their rehearsal dinner and wedding day.  It is always great to find time to be in Austin and to get into the hill country!  Here's a quick one-photo preview of Anna and Luke's wedding, with more to come soon.  Congratulations Anna and Luke!

Today's Monday, and I'm back in the office, catching up on things.  The next several posts will include photos from weddings I photographed in March, as well as some engagement portraits I've done recently (on the field of Minute Maid Park, perhaps?!?).  I'm also going to post some of my students' work from this spring at Yellowstone Academy.  I'm currently putting together their favorite and best work to showcase at their school this week and next.  It has been awesome to work with my students, and I will miss my Wednesday afternoons with them while they are on summer break.

Kelly and Callaway's Wedding

Wow, two posts in one day!  Maybe I'm becoming more reliable with this blog thing...maybe. : )

Here are some of my favorites from Kelly and Callaway's wedding.  Kelly and Callaway married on March 6, 2010, and had a beautiful wedding.  Their ceremony was at First Presbyterian Church, followed by a rockin' reception at La Colombe D'Or.  Enjoy...

This could be my favorite cake shot I've taken.  What an awesome groom's cake!  I let the shutter drag, and gave the camera a little shake in the middle of the exposure to make this gator come alive!  I didn't see any of the children trying to sneak an early bite of this cake...

This is one of my favorites.  Caught 'em red handed, stealing candy.

I found some guys in the back, lighting up some cigars.  The lighting behind them was this awesome lime green.  These were two of my favorite shots I've taken in a while!

The first toss wasn't exactly a success.  As you can see below, the chandelier got in the way of the bouquet...

Congratulations, Kelly and Callaway!
